Planning Board conducts final Design Guidelines review; public hearing Feb. 13 on proposed zoning changes

PUBLISHED: | UPDATED:

PEPPERELL –The Planning Board conducted their final review of the Design Guidelines this week. The six-page document was created to provide guidance to property owners and developers to “preserve and enhance the rural characteristics of the town of Pepperell.” The document has been under development for several months.

The guidelines address new structures, existing structures, parking and loading areas, signage, lighting, and landscaping and public spaces. According to Planning Administrator Susan Snyder, the design guidelines “do not replace or supersede the requirements of the Pepperell Protective Zoning Bylaws.”

The board is expected to formally adopt the final version at their next regularly scheduled meeting on Jan. 9. The board has also set a date of Feb. 13 for a public hearing on zoning bylaw changes. The changes are not designed to change the intent of any of the bylaws, rather to correct errors or add greater clarity to the content.

Hal Sartelle of 40 Hollis St. was appointed to the Economic Development Advisory Committee for a term of one year. Sartelle is the last of the Planning Board’s appointments to that committee.
