TOWNSEND — The Townsend Community Couples Club will host the lawn party at the Townsend Military band’s Thursday, Aug. 25 concert on the Townsend Common. Most of the proceeds raised by the couples club at the lawn party will be used to provide one or more scholarships for graduating North Middlesex Regional High School seniors.
The band begins playing at 7:30 p.m., but the local organizations sponsoring the lawn party held in conjunction with these concerts usually have food available for purchase by at least 6:45 p.m.
Townsend Couples Club members will be selling hot dogs, hamburgers, sausages, chips, cold soda and bottled water. They will also be offering fried dough, strawberry shortcake and a variety of homemade breads, cakes, cookies and candies for sale.
Children attending the band concert may enjoy the lady bug bean toss, ladder golf, lollipop nickel toss and basketball hoop games set up n the common.
The Townsend Military Band, under the direction of Jon Nicholson, will open its concert at 7:30 p.m. and close at 9:30 p.m. with “America, the Beautiful”” and the “Star Spangled Banner.”
