AYER — The Ayer Historical Commission is working with the Acadia Publishing Company to compile a book on the history of Ayer. The book will cover the period from the coming of the railroads in the mid 1840s to the end of World War II.

For the chapter on schools, the commission is seeking photographs of pupils or teachers in the classroom, school activities, school bands and sports, old report cards, yearbooks before 1950 and any other material that can tell the stories of the schools in Ayer.

All material submitted for consideration will be copied and the originals returned.

The next meeting of the historical committee is Wednesday, Aug. 24 at 7 p.m. at the Town Hall. Photos and material may be brought to the meeting. For additional information, please contact commission chairman, George Bacon, at 978-772-5304.
