AYER — Ayer, Shirley and state police converged on a West Main Street commercial address on July 28 to catch a man stealing copper piping red-handed.

Cole Howlett, 27, of Lunenburg was charged with malicious destruction of property, larceny over $250, possession of burglary tools and trespassing with a motor vehicle.
