The Pepperell Garden Club would like to thank the community for their support by attending the biggest, most organized and successful plant sale ever on May the 14th. The Club’s president, Nancy Hennessy, and Vice President Kathy Batchelder were ready and waiting to cut the tape at 8 a.m., allowing the early shoppers first pick of the annuals, herbs, perennials and vegetables. Our sale would not have been successful without the help of the following community members.

We would like to acknowledge the Lawrence Library with warm thanks, allowing us once again to hold our sale on the front lawn. The library stairs allow us to present the lush dug perennials in the most expressive and colorful way.

A special thank you goes out to the Pepperell Fire Department for once again providing us with their tent. It keeps members, shoppers and plants comfortable and happy.

We can always count on the Pepperell Free Press to do an outstanding job of publicizing our annual plant sale and our monthly club programs. Thank you for working with us throughout the year.

The community responded, as well as the members of the Garden Club, overwhelming us with plant donations, allowing us to offer over 1,000 perennials on the library steps this year. Thank you and please call us again next April.

Also, a big thank you for our raffle donations, the Pepperell Water Treatment Plant donated 3 yards of mulch and Tom and Kathy Maher donated a weed whacker, both to be raffled off to a lucky gardener.

All proceeds from the plant sale, our only fundraiser, directly benefit the beautification projects in the town of Pepperell.

The Pepperell Garden Club is open to anyone that would like to attend. We meet the second Wednesday of the month (from September through June) at the Pepperell Senior Center. Please join us in September — bring a plant and you’ll go home with a plant (noninvasive plants only, please). A rule to live by: Always have your digging tools in your car. You may see that unusual perennial that needs to be presented at next May’s plant sale.
