Voters in Ayer and Shirley approved a feasibility study for renovation or expansion of Ayer High School on Saturday.
Ayer voters approved the measure by 595-237. Shirley voters opposed it with 425 yes, 572 no. The combined vote was 1,020-809 in favor.
The vote allows the Ayer-Shirley School District, which begins operations on July 1, to borrow up to $750,000 for the study. The high school will become Ayer-Shirley High School on that date.
