The weather cooperated, with sun and temperatures in the 50s. This year’s Good Friday Walk, on April 22, proved to be a perfect day for the more than 200 walkers who collectively walked more than 1,200 miles.

This outstanding, cooperative effort could not have been such a success without the support of nearly 60 volunteers, Harvard Congregational Church (our hosts), the local newspapers, the Harvard Department of Public Works, the Harvard Police Department and the local Scout troops.

Altogether, the walk received donations and pledges of more than $17,000 to benefit Loaves & Fishes and Sharing Inc., with donations still arriving (GFW, 94 Jackson Road, Suite 105B, Devens, MA 01434.)

As these challenging economic times continue for many people, these funds are urgently needed. Both Loaves & Fishes, serving people in Ayer, Devens, Groton, Harvard, Littleton and Shirley, and Sharing Inc., helping people in the rural South, are indebted to the generosity of people within our local communities. Many thanks to all who participated in the Good Friday Walk — we are enormously grateful for your support.
