AYER — On March 2, the Board of Selectmen gave unanimous approval to the recommendation of the Water and Sewer commissioners to increase the water and sewer rates. The changed rates will take effect July 1.

The water rate will increase by 3.33 percent. The impact on the typical homeowner was a $4.96 per year increase in a water bill based on the average 4,000 cubic feet of water use.

The sewer rate will increase by about 3.5 percent. The impact on the typical homeowner will be a $19.20 annual increase in the sewer bill.
