Thanks to a grant from the Lowell Community Foundation and a generous donation from Dr. Spada here in Shirley, we are now offering Wii bowling on Monday at 1 p.m. The program starts Monday, Feb. 28. For all you seniors who miss being able to go to the Harvard Alleys and roll a frame or two, now you can. Wii bowling provides the excitement and reality of bowling (yes, you can still throw a gutter ball) but without the wear and tear on your knees.
Our goal is to have enough interest from local seniors to be able to form two-person teams and have a real league, complete with prizes at the end of the year. Come by and try it out.
Also, if you are one of the people who really wants to try yoga and to see the benefits it brings but hates to get up in the morning, we have an answer for you.
The Shirley COA is now offering an early Afternoon Gentle Yoga session on Tuesdays at 2 p.m. The same stretching and stress relief as we offer on Thursday morning, now at a more convenient time. All the benefits of yoga and a full eight hours of sleep as well. What more could you ask for?
The cost is just $25 for an eight-week session and if you miss a class, you can make it up on Thursday.
See you all on Tuesday at the Shirley Senior Center, 9 Parker Road.
