Hands-on art day

Drop in anytime during the day, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., in the Storytime Room to create something fun and fabulous! We will have lots of funky materials and recycled stuff for you to use, all you need to bring is your creativity! All ages (kids under age 10 must be accompanied by an adult). No sign-up required.

Afternoon movie and TEO benefit

LEGO robotics

Join Ed Hermann from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the Storytime Room and use LEGO NXT sets to build and program robots. Each week, you and your partner will have a challenge to complete. Adventures in Art with

Joanne Boudreau

Adventures in Art, held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in Meeting Hall A, is a unique program that combines open informal discussion on visual art in all its forms with a fun and easy hands-on project that emphasizes personal exploration regardless of artistic experience. The session three discussion will be assemblage and altered art. Required class materials: Watermedia paint (acrylic or watercolor), paint brushes, painting paper pad (12″ x 14″ or larger). Star Wars day

We will be showing the Star Wars original trilogy on the big screen. Come to one, two, or all of them. Bring a pillow, blanket, and snacks. Children under 11 must be accompanied by an adult. We will show A New Hope from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., The Empire Strikes Back from 2:30 to 5 p.m. and Return of the Jedi from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Between the movies you will have a chance to practice the force, and have some Star Wars-themed snacks.

For ages 1 through 3. Join Miss Molly from 10:30 to 11 a.m. in the Storytime Room for stories then play with blocks! Great for building fine motor skills and pre-literacy. Russian artist

Marina Forbes

This unique cultural program is designed for adults, teens and families with children 6 and older. The program, held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Meeting Hall A and B, combines storytelling, traditional Russian music, and the actual painting of authentic Russian firebird whistles. It introduces adults and children to the magic and mystery of this important Russian folk image. There will also be a demonstration of a few steps from a traditional Russian “Firebird dance.” There is a materials fee for anyone participating in the hands-on component of the program. This fee covers the cost of the wooden shape and the use of paints for painting on wood and brushes for the workshop. Prices range from $10 and up.
