Church supper: Townsend Congregational Church invites you to enjoy a Ham Dinner from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Tickets, available at the door, are $9 for adults and $5 for children ages 3 through 8. Townsend Earth Day

Plans Underway!

Earth Day will be celebrated in Townsend on the Town Common on April 30, 2011 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. “Going Organic” is the theme with magician Steve Rudolph at 1 p.m. Slot space is $20 for profit and free for nonprofit.

Come join the committee March 15, 29; April 12, 26 at 7 p.m. in room 2 at Memorial Hall. E-mail to join in the plans or to reserve space.

Selectmen, Assessor, Cemetery/Parks, Board of Health, Library Trustee, Planning Board, Recreation Commission, Tax Collector, Town Clerk, Townsend Housing Authority, Trust Fund Commissioner, Trustees of Soldiers’ Memorials (Veteran and Non-veteran), Amanda E. Dwight Entertainment Committee, North Middlesex Regional School Committee (at-large), Water Commissioner.

All positions are for 3 years, except Planning Board and Housing Authority, which are for 5 years.

You need 36 Townsend voters signatures. We suggest you get at least 40 to insure you have enough valid signatures.

Project Graduation fundraiser

Bailey’s Bar and Grille, 18 Main St., Townsend, will host a fundraiser for NMRHS’s Project Graduation on Tuesday, March 1, from 5 to 10 p.m. All food and beverage (bar area included) sales, including take-out, will count towards the 10 percent contribution to Project Graduation.

Come enjoy an evening out with your family or friends! It would be a pleasure to see former NMRHS students. Class of 2006, why not come celebrate 5 years out of NM with us?

Project Graduation will be holding its monthly meeting at Bailey’s at 6:30 p.m. that evening.

PG is an all-night substance free party held free of charge for the graduates, the evening of graduation. This group has depended on the community and businesses in order to fund the activities that take place, since its inception in 2004.

Ashby kindergarten sign-up

Kindergarten registration for the 2011-2012 school year is fast approaching. We will be holding an informational meeting on Thursday, March 3, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. for all parents. Kindergarten is open to all children who will be five by Aug. 31. We do have school choice slots open for those wanting to attend from other school districts. We are holding registration on Thursday, March 3, and Friday, March 4, from 9:30 to 11 a.m. and then again from 2 to 2:45 p.m. No appointment is necessary. In order to register we will need to see an original birth certificate. We will need up-to-date immunizations of three doses of DPT, five doses of DTP/DtaP (If DT is given without Pertussis, a letter of exemption from the child’s physician is required), four doses of polio, two doses of MMR, two doses of varicella or a physicians-certified history of children pox, a lead test vision screening and a school registration sheet. These forms must be completed before your child can enter school in September.
