WESTFORD — Freshman superstar Erin Olson led the way for the Groton-Dunstable Regional High School girls alpine racing team with a 15th place finish overall in a field of 84 competitors as the Lady Crusaders placed fourth overall in the Massachusetts Bay West League slalom race. Olson completed the one-run slalom course with a time of 31.54. Senior Meena Khayami was the second Lady Crusaders to finish, 16th overall in a time of 31.70. Rounding out the top three skiers for Groton-Dunstable was Noelle Johnson with a time of 32.80.

Bromfield took the top spot in the girls race with Westford Academy finishing second.

In the boys division of the Mass Bay West League, the Crusaders had its best team finish of the season with a fourth-place showing in the slalom race. Senior Alex Olson (older brother to Erin) performed in the number one slot for the Crusaders and registered a 20th-place finish in 29.77. Dan Calderan was the team’s second finisher with a clocking of 32.08. Placing third for the Crusaders was senior captain Clayton Enright with a time of 32.76.

Westford Academy finished on top in the boys race.

Both teams will be back on the slopes on Thursday, Feb. 17, for the Massachusetts Bay West League All-Star Race to be held at Nashoba Valley Ski Resort. The League’s Alpha Division will compete head-to-head with the league’s Omega Division. The races begin at 3:30 p.m.
