The Friends of the Harvard Council on Aging wishes to publically thank the Harvard Police Association for their generous donation to our organization. Every year the Harvard Police Association makes a donation to a worthy town organization. We are extremely grateful that this year they have chosen the Council on Aging, serviced through the Friends.

The Friends of the Harvard Council on Aging is a nonprofit corporation founded in 2001 to provide programs and activities for the elderly in Harvard by providing the COA with financial support and volunteer participation. As a group, the Friends have accomplished many things since our inception. We were instrumental in securing necessary funding for the installation of a handicapped equipped bathroom in the Hildreth House and originally paying for the Hildreth House to have internet access. We maintain a nonprofit bulk mailing permit for the mailing of the monthly COA newsletter and we have a membership in the United Way Product Philanthropy Warehouse where we can help the COA to purchase office supplies for substantially lower costs. We assisted the COA in obtaining the additional funding needed to increase staff hours. We have extensively renovated and refurbished the Hildreth House to make it a more accessible and enjoyable place to come to. For two years we have organized and sponsored the increasingly popular and successful Fall into Fashion fundraiser.

Our sincere thanks to the Harvard Police Association. We are delighted that they are a part of our efforts to provide for Harvard’s greatest assets; the senior citizens of our town who do so much to make Harvard the wonderful community that we all enjoy.
