Let me introduce myself: My name is Stephen Dlott, and I have been recently appointed Interim Principal of Groton Dunstable Regional High School. In this capacity, I will work with the faculty, parents and students to maintain the excellence of the school. As part of my responsibility, I will be working on the NEASC evaluation and the process of hiring a principal.
Becoming the Principal during the year presents interesting challenges as the direction of the school has already been set prior to my arrival. However, the staff and students have been so welcoming to me that I have been able to get into the flow of the school quickly. The students at GDRSH are impressive. They show respect for themselves and each other, and there is a pleasant sense of community within the school. The staff is student-oriented and the interaction between teacher and student is very positive. Academic standards are demanding, but the atmosphere is positive and supportive,
As for me, I have been a principal of two regional high schools previously — Linwood High School in Lincoln, New Hampshire, and Tahanto Regional High school in Boylston, Massachusetts. I have also served as principal of Arlington High school, where, coincidently, Rick Arena, our new dean, was one of my students. In addition, I have been superintendent of schools in Westborough and interim superintendent in Hudson. Each morning I now take a delightful ride to GDRHS from my home in Northborough where I reside with my wife, Ann Marie, who is a teacher in Hopkinton.
As part of my communication with parents, periodically I will send out letters which will be posted on the website. In an attempt to go green, most correspondence will be electronic.
I am here to serve the parents and the community and I hope to get to know your children and yourselves. I thank you all for giving me the privilege to serve your children.
