HARVARD — On the first weekend in December, The Bromfield Middle School Drama Club will present Seussical Jr., a fantastical, magical, musical extravaganza that brings to life all of our favorite Dr. Seuss characters, including Horton the Elephant (Jake Turchetta), The Cat in the Hat (Aislyn Fair), Gertrude McFuzz (Emma Delaney), lazy Mayzie (Marcelle Hazoury) and a little boy with a big imagination — Jojo (Joey D’amore). “Oh, the Thinks You Can Think” captures the show’s spirit of imagination, as the colorful characters transport us from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus to the invisible world of the Whos.

The story centers around Horton the Elephant, who finds himself faced with a double challenge — not only must he protect his tiny friend Jojo (and all the invisible Whos) from a world of naysayers and dangers, but he must guard an abandoned egg, left to his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird. Although Horton faces ridicule, danger, kidnapping and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him, the only one who recognizes “his kind and his powerful heart.” Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community are challenged and emerge triumphant in a story meant for all ages that makes you laugh and cry.

Seussical Jr. is directed by Martha Brooks, with choreography by Melissa Hoffmann and musical direction by Micheal Hoffmann. Costumes are by Kate Hoch. The show will be presented in the Cronin Auditorium at The Bromfield School in Harvard on Dec. 3 and 4 at 7 p.m., and on Sunday, Dec. 5, at 3 p.m. Tickets are available at the door.
