W.H.A.L.E. (We Have A Little Emergency) is an Education and Identification program for parents and caregivers who have children in child safety seats.
W.H.A.L.E. can make a difference in the event of a motor-vehicle crash involving your child. It provides emergency personnel with vital information about your child should the driver become incapacitated. In many cases, children are too young to identify themselves or the driver. Rescue efforts may be delayed if emergency personnel are unable to identify child-emergency contacts, or any special medical needs, i.e. allergies. By having this information on child safety seats, emergency personnel can better meet the needs of your children and parents /caregivers can feel safe knowing their children needs are being met.
W.H.A.L.E. check requires the use of three self-adhesive stickers and one information label that are placed in specific locations on the vehicle and the child’s safety car seat. The program is free and easy to participate in. Packets can be obtained at Townsend Fire-EMS Headquarters, 13 Elm St., Townsend. This is also a great opportunity to have your car seats inspected.
