Ayer: Lt. Col. Kenneth R. Ritter (ret), 80, of Pleasant Street, died Sunday, Oct. 31, 2010 at the Nashoba Valley Medical Center, Ayer
Mr. Ritter was born in Methuen, November 27, 1929, a son of Albert E. and Lillian J. (Lowell) Ritter and has resided in Ayer for over 35 years.
In the mid 1960s he received his bachelors degree in business and commerce from the University of Louisville.
For 26 years he served his country in the United States Army, retiring in June of 1980 at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Martha J. (Vincent) Ritter; his son and daughter in law, Jeffrey L. and Julie Ritter of Windsor, Colorado; his daughter, Karen Warila of Shirley; a brother and sister in law, William and Barbara Ritter of Methuen; three grandchildren, Tiffani Warila, D.J. Warila and Travis Warila; and a great-granddaughter, Madison Margraf.
He was the brother of the late Carl Ritter, Howard Ritter and Frederick Ritter.
Mr. Ritter attended the Federated Church of Ayer and the Joseph Connors American Legion Post in Ayer. He was a member of the Aleppo Shriners Lodge of Wilmington as well as the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry. He was also a member of the Military Officers Association of America.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 4th at the Federated Church, 21 Washington St., Ayer. Burial will be in the Village Cemetery, Shirley.
