TOWNSEND — The Townsend Library hosted Halloween Boo Friday on Oct. 29 as a special treat to children. This is the second year for the complimentary event sponsored by the Library Friends.

Library trustees, staff and volunteers wore costumes and greeted the crowd with games, goodies, activities and crafts. For a few hours, this normally quiet library was alive with colorful characters and happy chatter as kids ventured on a scavenger hunt and a joined in a costume parade.

Every nook of the Children’s Room delighted visitors with a surprise, including stretchy mice, vampire teeth, make your own googly-eyed spider and even a spot to sit and color a few Halloween scenes.

Ongoing children’s programs at the library include weekly storytimes with crafts and blocks. Kids can also catch some deep-sea fun with SpongeBob SquarePants: The Movie at Library Movie Night on Nov. 19, from 6:30-9 p.m.
