The Harvard Energy Advisory Committee has requested that the Board of Selectmen call a special Town Meeting for Nov. 9 to consider adopting the Stretch Energy Code. Your Board of Selectmen will make a decision on this matter at our regularly scheduled meeting Oct. 19. If a special Town Meeting is called, there will also be an article from the Harvard Planning Board to allow as-of-right siting for renewable and alternative energy. Separately, the Planning Board will hold public hearings on their proposed article. The HEAC request is part of an effort to become a Green Community. There are other requirements to become a Green Community.
The League of Women Voters has agreed to host a forum which will include presentations and Q&A sessions on the Stretch Energy Code and becoming a Green Community. The forum was scheduled for Oct. 14 at 7 p.m. in Volunteers Hall at the new Library. Adoption of the Stretch Energy Code will have economic consequences for new construction and could affect work done on existing homes.
Please try to make the forum on the 14th, the Board of Selectmen’s meeting on the 19th or both.
Thank You,
RONALD V. RICCI
