GROTON — The Groton-Dunstable boys cross country team is building a squad complete with depth and that depth surfaced when the Crusaders hosted Gardner and Parker School and posted an impressive sweep of a trimeet. Groton-Dunstable rolled to a 19-44 victory over MidWach B rival Gardner, while posting a 25-34 victory over Parker School in non-league action.
Junior Jared Sheehy led the way for the Crusaders with a first-place finish with a clocking of 18:19.
Parker School got strong efforts from its top three runners as Keith Rossi was second with a time of 18:27, Rocky Ethier fifth with a time of 18:44, and Matt Hotaling, sixth in 18:49.
Ben Morse was the top Gardner runner, finishing third in 18:41.
Groton-Dunstable wrapped up the two victories by placing six runners in the top 10 and 15 in the top 20.
Senior Mark Lavallee finished a strong fourth for the Crusaders with a time of 18:41. Rounding out the top 10 were a quartet of Groton-Dunstable runners, Joey Biasi seventh in 18:56, Kevin Thompson eighth in 19:00, Greg Naughton ninth in 19:18, and Jon Wolfe 10th in 19:34.
Parker School defeated Gardner 21-34 in the other result on the day.
