Last month’s Groton Community Dinner was a delicious success thanks to abundant helping hands and generosity. Hosting Groups of the Month, Union Congregational Church and the Groton-Pepperell Rotary Club provided most of the volunteers, cooks, and staffed the grill. The following businesses donated goods, outright or at a discount, to stretch our budget further: Blood Farm (W. Groton) provided flank steak; Doc Davis Ice Cream Stand (Pepperell) provided vanilla ice cream; Lull Farm (Hollis and Milford, N.H.) provided tomatoes, and Springdell Farm (Littleton) provided sweet corn on the cob. The band Blue Taxi performed live music throughout the evening, so our dinner guests (about 130 people of all ages) left enriched in many ways.
Groton Community Dinners take place the last Friday of each month at First Parish Church of Groton, at the intersection of routes 40 and 119 (Main Street). Doors open at 5:45 p.m. and dinner is served from 6-7. The venue is wheelchair-accessible, admission is free, everyone is welcome; booster seats are available, and the food is real, local, healthy, fresh and delicious.
