SHIRLEY — The Shirley Friendship Fund is a non-profit organization that helps Shirley residents in need, and we need your help.
Our next meeting is Thursday, Sept. 2, at Shirley Town Offices at 4 p.m., when we will be sending out letters for donations to the fund.
On Sunday, Sept. 12, we will be hosting an informational table at Shirley Shines at the Old Town Common, from 1-4 p.m. We will have a coffee pot raffle and a bake sale, and are seeking bakers and workers to help.
At our Thursday, Sept. 30 meeting at the Town Offices at 4 p.m. we will need help preparing for our townwide Yard Sale on Oct. 2. We need workers and donations of items for the sale.
On Sunday, Oct. 3, we need help serving beverages and fresh fruit cups at the fourth annual Day of Play on the Old Town Common from noon-3 p.m., where we will have a doll and cradle raffle.
At our Thursday, Nov. 4, meeting at the Town Offices at 4 p.m., we will distribute forms for our food drive at MCI. Once the forms are returned by Nov. 26, we will be setting up gift trees at St. Anthony, MCI, Fidelity and North Middlesex Savings Bank.
The tree ornaments list the gifts requested, and volunteers are asked to take the tags for which they will purchase items. All gift items must be purchased by Dec. 2, when we meet at the town offices at 4 p.m. to organize and wrap the gifts.
All gifts will be returned, wrapped, by Dec. 13, and on Dec. 21, the fire station distributes the food baskets and gifts. Times for pick-up are assigned to clients.
