Pepperell — John Dennis Toomey, 66, died Sunday, Aug. 22, 2010 at the Parsons Hill Nursing Home in Worcester following a long illness.

Mr. Toomey, know simply as “Jack,” spent most of his life in Pepperell.

He was born Feb. 22,1944 and was the son of the late Helen (Rich) Toomey and the late Harold Raymond Toomey.

He leaves two brothers, Harold Toomey of Hollis, NH and Thomas Toomey of Lunenburg. Mr. Toomey also had two sisters, the late Beverly (Toomey) Cutler of West Groton and the late Barbara (Toomey) Gagnon of California. He also leaves several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mr. Toomey attended Peter Fitzpatrick School and graduated from North Middlesex Regional High School in 1962. Following graduation, he worked at Bemis Brothers Bag Company for 10 years. Mr. Toomey spent the next 15 years as a custodian in the Pepperell schools before retiring.

Mr. Toomey was an avid collector of antiques, having a preference for Jim Beam bottles and cookie jars. He often sought out Avon bottles for one of his grandniece’s collections. Mr. Toomey was also an avid Nascar race fan.
