TOWNSEND — The Townsend VFW Post 6538 Ladies Auxiliary received numerous awards for its various programs, which benefit veterans and the community at the Massachusetts Ladies Auxiliary VFW Convention held at the Boston Marriott Hotel in Peabody.
The awards included citations, patriotic items, cash and checks.
The Townsend Auxiliary was acknowledged for its participation in the National VFW Ladies Auxiliary Cancer Aid and Research, Legislative/VFW-PAC and Voice of Democracy/Patriot’s Pen programs. Citations for contributions to National Military Services were received from both the National VFW and the National VFW Auxiliary, which recognized the Townsend Ladies Auxiliary for its support of men and women serving on active duty around the world and their families, and hospitalized veterans.
The Townsend VFW Ladies Auxiliary was commended for its Americanism Program and was named one of the three auxiliaries in the state with an Outstanding Youth Activities program.
It earned the First-Place Veterans and Family Support Program Award and the First Place Community Service Make-a-Difference Day Award in Massachusetts Membership Division 3, which is comprised of 24 auxiliaries with 70 to 119 members.
The most prestigious honor the Townsend VFW Ladies Auxiliary received at the state convention was being named the First Place Auxiliary of the Year in Membership Division 3.
