Townsend Methodist Church to Host Vacation Bible School

Townsend United Methodist Church is hosting a Vacation Bible School Monday, Aug. 2, through Friday, Aug. 6, from 9 to 11:30 a.m. The curriculum, “Galactic Blast” will give children an extraordinary adventure filled with fun, excitement, and creative Bible-based activities. VBS decorations, activities, crafts, skits, games, music and snacks are all part of the week long program.

The VBS is open to all children of the area ages 4 -12. The cost is $5 for the entire week and preregistration is requested. The church is located at 265 Main St., at the corner of routes 13 and 119 in Townsend Center. For further information or to sign up, please call 978-597-2486.

Softball players needed

Softball skills and games will be included in the training sessions for grades 7-11 for students from Ashby, Pepperell and Townsend. This free introductory softball clinic, sponsored by Townsend Recreation, will be held on Sunday evenings from 6-8 p.m. at a local field. The clinic will run every Sunday through Aug. 29. Several local coaches have banded together to produce a top-notch clinic. This clinic will help when trying out for local and school teams. Car Show to benefit Relay for Life

In the first of what is planned to be an annual event, a fun-filled car show will be held Saturday, Aug. 21, from noon to 5 p.m. at Cherry Hill Ice Cream Too, 53 Main St., Townsend.

This family event will ROCK Townsend like never before, showcasing a car show featuring classic and custom cars, hot rods, trucks and motorcycles. So if you have a vehicle you’d like to show off, come on down!

Also, Uncle Moe’s Down Home BBQ, ice cream, dancing, vendors, two Moonwalks for the kids, 50/50 raffle, trophies and goodie Bbags for the first 25 vehicles that arrive.

Townsend 29th Annual Fall Fair Sept. 18, 19

A tradition lives on! The Townsend Historical Society is sponsoring the 29th Annual Arts and Crafts Fair Saturday, Sept. 18, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 19, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The fair is a very popular event and traditionally attracts artists and crafters from all over New England. The location of the fair is on highly visible Townsend Common, 263 Main St., at the junction of routes 13 and 119. There will be a food court, free parking and restroom facilities available. It is a rain or shine event.
