Benjamin Hill Park now open

Facilities include pool with lifeguards, toys, chairs and shade; pool house with restrooms, changing areas and showers; snack bar, indoor seating, outdoor picnic area; the Mystical Maze Playground. Fully handicapped-accessible. Pool hours are 1 to 7 p.m., no child under 12 admitted to the pool without a responsible adult or baby-sitter present.

Check Shirley town web site for membership and day fees. The park is at 93 Benjamin Hill Road, Shirley.

Disney’s “Cinderella Kids”

The ShirleyArts! Summer Children’s Theater production is Disney’s “Cinderella Kids.” The classic musical will be performed at Shirley Middle School on Friday, July 24 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, July 25 at 3 p.m. with an admission price of $5 at the door.

Madison Staley of Shirley is playing the title role of the sweet hard-working heroine. The mean stepmother and stepsisters are played by Stevie Schaeffer and Emily Olson of Shirley and Lauren Sullivan of Groton. Brittany Gibbons is playing the helpful Fairy Godmother, with the Prince being played by Laura Wilson, both of Shirley.

The storytellers for the show are Melissa Bird and Julie Maillet, both of Shirley. The dancing Bluebird is being played by Jackie Condon of Leominster. Jenna Bailey of Shirley is playing the part of the King with Ryan Messcher of Ayer playing the Grand Duke and Amber Dobson of Shirley being the Herald.

The youngest members of the cast, playing the parts of the Mice, are Katrina Colt of Groton, Cierra Wilkins of Leominster, and Michaela Hoffmann, Rosalind Lupaczyk, Anna Santoro Alex Wilson, and Amanda Wilson, all of Shirley.

Director for the production is Meredith Marcinkewicz with Laurie Marcinkewicz as choreographer.

St. Anthony’s Bazaar

Aug. 6 and 7

The traditional St. Anthony’s Bazaar will be held Aug. 6 and 7 from 5 to 10 p.m. (Rain dates: Aug. 13 and 14). On Friday, Aug. 6, a lobster dinner and homemade seafood chowder will be served starting at 5 p.m., rain or shine. Saturday fare will be barbecued chicken and homemade chili. Assorted baked goods and homemade pies will be available on both days.

The bazaar will feature a White Elephant sale, Kiddle Land, Fire Department dunking booth, chug-a-lug for the over 18 set and a large array of games. A Giant Raffle, Chinese Auction and Pot Luck will offer great chances to win prizes.
