“Coming Home: Veterans Stories”: 10 a.m. First Parish Unitarian Universalist Church of Groton invites the general public to the July 18 summer service “Coming Home: Veterans’ Stories” facilitated by Alice Van Ormer, a psychologist on staff at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital.

Author to appear at Barnes & Noble: Pierre Comtois will be at Barnes & Noble, 151 Merrimack St., Lowell, to sign his new book, “Marvel Comics in the 1960s: An Issue by Issue Field Guide to a Pop Culture Phenomenon.” The event is free and may change without notice. Roast beef dinner: 5:30 p.m. Ladies Oriental Shrine of North America is having an annual roast-beef dinner at Caleb Butler Lodge in Ayer. The price is $10 and $5 for those younger than 12. The dinner Includes salad, roast beef, potato, vegetable, dessert and beverage. Proceeds will benefit Fuad Court of Boston. First Parish Unitarian Universalist of Groton

Townsend and Pepperell Methodist Churches

Townsend United Methodist Church and Pepperell’s Lawrence Memorial United Methodist Church have planned combined 10 a.m. summer worship services again this year. July worship will be at Townsend UMC (July 4 -25). The church is located at 265 Main St., at the corner of routes 13 and 119, in Townsend Center.

10 a.m. worship service in August will be held at Pepperell’s Lawrence Memorial UMC. The church is located at 1 Chapel Hill, off Main Street, one block in from Pepperell’s Dunkin’ Donuts.
