June 22: Thomas Cormier, 39, a homeless man in Ayer, was arrested and charged with assault and battery with his shod foot and domestic assault and battery. Cormier and his companion were moved off the rail trail by the police but shortly thereafter a passerby reported Cormier kicking the woman on the ground. Upon arrival, Officer Matthew Callahan observed Cormier shoving the victim into a wall. While the victim refused to cooperate and no medical treatment was sought, Cormier was placed under arrest.

July 3: Five car breaks reported on July 3 are under investigation. All occurred in the Pleasant and Washington Street areas downtown. Electronic devices were reported missing.

Also, a car was reported stolen when an alleged potential customer of Nu-Kar Auto Sales on Park Street took a green/blue Chevy Aveo for a test drive and didn’t return for several hours. The vehicle was ultimately returned during the overnight hours. The matter remains under investigation.
