Pepperell’s Annual Crank-Up: Wake up with the early-birds and come to the annual Crank-up at the Town Field from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is free. The event features over 200 exhibitors, including 50-75 tractors, and over 100 gasoline engines.

Pepperell Recreation’s SUMMER PLAYGROUND Returns!

A drop-off recreational program for children ages 5-14 featuring many fun-filled activities! Each age group will have its own activities, programs and counselors focused on their interests and abilities in a safe, supervised environment.

Sports: Children will have the opportunity to participate in many sports, including street hockey, ladderball, Whiffleball, volleyball, flag football, and capture the flag.

Arts & crafts include painting, drawing, beadwork, tie-dye and sand art.

Contests include balloon tosses, Hula Hoops and Jumprope among many other contests.

We will also go on field trips to the roller-skating rink and to the movies!

This 5-week program runs through Friday, Aug. 6.

Time: Daily 9 a.m. to noon.

Cost: $150/child for 5 weeks, $300/for families with 2 or more children enrolled, $40/1 week pass.

Location: Town Field & Community Center

Pepperell Christian Fellowship hosting Vacation Bible School

Pepperell Christian Fellowship is hosting a Vacation Bible School, July 26-July 30, from 9 a.m. to noon. The theme is “Firefighters by TruthQuest.”

The VBS is FREE and open to all children of the area who are four years old by July 1 through fifth grade just completed. The church is located at 17 Main St., Pepperell, next door to the Pepperell Lawrence Library.

A moms class will also be going on and is open to all ladies; it is the same time and place with a staffed nursery.

There is a snack provided. We ask that children please bring a plain white T-shirt for a craft day during the week. Registration will be done at the door on Monday, July 26.

Student Art Contest for Covered Bridge — entry

deadline July 23

The Covered Bridge Committee announces an Art Contest open to all Pepperell students grades K through 8th. Drawings or paintings must be of Pepperell’s Covered Bridge past or present and be an original work of art. One winner will be chosen from each grade level and a Grand Prize winner will win $100. Winning Drawings will be displayed in: The www.pepperellcoveredbridge.org; Lawrence Library during the month of August; The Program Guide for the fall Bridge Opening Celebration; various public areas in Pepperell.

Artist Nita Casey of the Gingerbread Art Gallery in Pepperell and the Covered Bridge Committee will judge the contest based on creativity and originality.

Submit your drawing to the Lawrence Library by Friday, July 23. Include your name, grade, and phone number. Winners will be chosen on Aug. 1.

Pepperell United Methodist Church is hosting a Summer Feast Dinner

… Saturday, July 10 from 4:30 to 6 p.m.

We will be serving summer dishes such as pulled pork, barbecued chicken wings and other summer dishes along with a assortment of salads and a variety of desserts made with all different berry’s to choose from.

PLEASE COME JOIN US FOR THIS SUMMER FEAST DINNER. The cost is $8 for adults, $7 for seniors and $4 for children. The door prize you are automatically entered with and purchase of your supper ticket will be drawn at 5:30 p.m.

The church is located at 1 Chapel Place, Pepperell (One block behind Dunkin” Donuts).

Mondays at 9:30 a.m. play Hand and Foot; Tuesdays at 10 a.m. is Cribbage and at 12:30 p.m. is Gin Rummy.

Love Yoga? You can come to the Center on Tuesdays at 9:30 a.m. for Yoga with Patsy and Thursdays at 9 a.m. for Yoga with Elise.

Wii Sports continues with bowling on Thursdays at 12:30 p.m. and golf on Fridays at 9:30 a.m.

Singing with the Hot Shots is at 9:15 a.m. on Wednesday mornings.

Lunch — Join our lunches on Wednesdays at 12 noon. There is always something delicious to eat!! Follow lunch with a bit of bingo fun. $1 buys you 3 cards.

On Tuesdays from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. we are offering a salad bar lunch program. The cost is $3. The selection is plentiful and different every week! Give it a try!

Summer Cookout. Join us for a summer cookout. Tom Ruggles and the Barbershop Quartet will entertain us. Audience participation is highly encouraged! There will be sing-a-longs! Limited to 150 people. Please sign up at the front desk. The cost is $2 for Pepperell residents and $3 for out of town residents. This event is supported in part by the Pepperell Cultural Council, a local agency, which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.

Book Club. This month’s discussion will be about “Water for Elephants” by Sara Gruen. Copies of this book will be made available at the Lawrence Library. Please come and discuss what you liked about the book. New members are always encouraged to come by!

Rotary Picnic. The Pepperell/Groton Rotary Club will be hosting their annual picnic here at the Pepperell Senior Center. Enjoy an afternoon with lunch free of charge.
