GROTON — The Main Street Cafe, in cooperation with the Groton Parks Commission, will host the Groton Summer Concert Series from July 10 through Sept. 4. The Saturday concerts will be held in a small gazebo in a picturesque field behind the Groton Public Library at 99 Main St. (Route 119).
Featuring local musicians, the shows will run from 6-8 p.m. and are open to the public free of charge.
The musicians have volunteered their time and talent and the cafe is covering the cost of the shows.
“We wanted to give something back to the community, and with the gazebo remodeled to offer better sight lines, a summer concert series seemed to be right in character with the town.” said Main Street Cafe co-owner Bob Wright.
“The musicians performing in the Groton Summer Concert Series have already received a great response in town at our Thursday Acoustic Cafe.”
Families are invited to the all-age shows. The gazebo is located next to the library’s playground, so parents can enjoy live music while the kids play, Wright noted.
Artists scheduled to perform in the Groton Summer Concert Series are:
July 10: JD West, John Niemoler & Dwight Fronsdahl, Light acoustic rock
July 17: Nancy Beaudette & Chris Hatch, recording artist, originals and pop favorites
