PEPPERELL — Nancy Hennessey was unanimously elected to a two-year term as Pepperell Garden Club’s new president at the annual social June 11. Kathy Batchelder will serve as vice president; Lucy Browne, treasurer; and Erin Starr will become secretary.

The Pepperell Garden Club began in 1968. Meetings are held on the second Wednesday of the month from September through June. The club meets at 7 p.m. at the Pepperell Senior Center on Route 111.

The club is an active organization. Some members take care of the flowers at the Route 111/113 rotary and at Town Hall. The club sponsored the gardens at the clock and rail trail, bandstand as well as Main Street beautification. Their latest endeavor were the plantings at the VFW memorial. The club is well-known for their plant sale every May.

The Program Committee plans monthly programs related to gardening.

Programs, which can include guest speakers, crafts, and workshops, are based on the interests of club members. Many members knew little about gardening when they joined but have since learned a great deal. There are many friendly members of all ages. Refreshments are always served. Annual dues are $15, or a $5 guest fee. The Pepperell Garden Club welcomes new members and guests from all communities.
