Volunteers needed for Pepperell’s new town playground installation ~ June 19 & 20

PUBLISHED: | UPDATED:

Dear Pepperell Families,

We, the Friends of Pepperell Recreation, are pleased to announce the installation of a new play space on the Pepperell Town Field, Hollis Street, Pepperell, on June 19 and 20.

We are looking for volunteers to help us with the installation of eight new play structures. Whether you can commit to time on Saturday or time on Sunday, we are happy to accept two hours, six hours or any amount of time you can spare.

We realize this is a busy time of year for everyone. However, the commitment of time spent this weekend will allow for endless hours of fun for hundreds of children in town, starting with the Fourth of July festivities and right into the very popular summer playground.

For the past four years, we have been raising funds for the betterment of the public space: Eight swings, a tire swing, a toddler slide, a zip line, a rock’n rider, a gravitron, a spinning carousel, and a triple slide. In starting with this particular goal, we will improve a very public space. The play pieces previously onsite were more than 30 years old. They have just been removed in preparation for eight new play structures we have just purchased.

Our objective in selecting the abovementioned pieces was that each “event” could accommodate multiple children to play at one time. As you know, the town field is home to a weekly farmers market from July through October; a weekly summer concert series, the town’s summer playground where over 100 children come for up to 15 hours/week for five weeks. The Pepperell Community Center is there, the skatepark, soccer fields, girls’ softball field, gazebo, and baseball field call the town field home.

This new play space has been funded entirely by the Friends of Pepperell through our numerous fundraisers: Holiday house tour, Pepperellopoly, four Used Bike Sales, three Halloween Costume Sales, Game Day and various other smaller fundraisers. The Friends of Pepperell is a Not-for-Profit organization, www.friendsofpepperell.org. We have been so fortunate to have received support in the form of time, donations, and attendance at our events, and look forward to this exciting weekend.

Thank you in advance for your consideration of this request. If you need further information, I can be reached at 978-433-8623 or 978-835-0133.
