TOWNSEND –Selectmen took another step toward hiring a new town administrator on Tuesday, appointing five people to serve on a search committee.

The appointees include former selectman Dave Chenelle, who was the only citizen who applied for the at-large seat on the committee.

The committee will also include a representative from the selectmen, Sue Lisio; and the Finance Committee, Paul Nicoli. The town accountant and police chief round out the roster.

Townsend is looking to fill the town administrator position that was vacated by Greg Barnes during the spring, and interim Town Administrator Andrew Sheehan advised that the Board of Selectmen should — if it hasn’t already — give a very specific charge for the search committee.

The deadline for the resumes to be submitted for the position is June 10, and Sheehan expected the search committee would start meeting around that time.
