Groton’s annual town election will be held May 18. The polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. This year’s election has several contested races, including the Board of Selectmen and the Groton-Dunstable School Committee. The ballot will also include the following proposition 2 1/2 override question seeking voter approval:

Shall the Town of Groton be allowed to assess an additional $931,336 in real estate and personal property taxes for the purpose of funding the town’s share of the cost of operating the Groton Dunstable Regional Public Schools for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2010?

Absentee ballots are now available for those who can not make it to the polls on election day. Contact the town clerk’s office at 978-448-1100 or townclerk@townofgroton.org to obtain an absentee ballot.
