PRESS RELEASE — The Ayer Board of Selectmen and Water Commissioners announced Wednesday that the Ayer water restriction is still in effect.
* Due to flooding, the town of Ayer’s Spectacle Pond wells have been shut down.
* Water is currently being provided only through the Grove Pond wells.
* The water IS safe to drink.
* To maintain adequate supply a townwide water restriction is in effect.
* Businesses and residents must reduce water consumption until further notice.
* Floodwaters may take 2-3 weeks to drain.
