WESTFORD — Twelve students from Nashoba Valley Technical High School — the most in recent memory — earned medals in the recent SkillsUSA District Competition held at Greater Lowell Technical High School in Tyngsborough.
Students who earn gold and silver medals in the District event qualify for the SkillsUSA State Competition, scheduled for April 29 to May 1 in Marlborough.
Earning gold medals for Nashoba Tech were postgraduate students Marissa Toomey of Groton in basic health care skills and Shane Webber of Chelmsford in residential wiring.
Silver medals went to sophomore Krystel Demers of Pepperell in basic health care skills; senior Brittney Martino of Townsend in dental; postgraduate student Kevin Wicks of Townsend in residential wiring; and the team of seniors Christina Wetzel of Littleton and Andrew Pecukonis of Pepperell in video product development.
Earning bronze medals for Nashoba Tech were postgraduate student Daniel Deleo of Townsend in residential wiring; junior Kaitlyn Devine of Westford in nursing assistant; senior Nicole Taylor of Pepperell in nail care; and the team of seniors Shayann Lynch of Pepperell and Aidan Gillis of Chelmsford in video product development.
SkillsUSA is a national, nonprofit organization serving teachers , high-school and college students who are preparing for careers in trade, technical and skilled service occupations.
