TOWNSEND — Marshall G. “Matt” Drummond, 70, of 1 Reagan Road, died Thursday, March 25, at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Boston, after an illness.

Mr. Drummond was born in Newton, Jan. 12, 1940, a son of the late George and Bertha (Osterburg) Drummond and has grew up in Watertown. He moved from Maynard to Townsend in 1978.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Maureen A. (Collins) Drummond; a daughter and son in law, Susan M. and Jamie Adams of East Taunton; several sons and daughters in law, Duane M. Drummond of Leominster, Marty and Caroline Drummond of Ashby, Robert and Tracey Drummond of Milford, Kevin and Alex Drummond of Fitchburg, Scott Drummond and Michelle Egan of Townsend; a sister, Janet Sparks of Panama City, Fla. He also leaves thirteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Mr. Drummond worked as a machinist at the Digital Equipment Corporation in Maynard, retiring in 1991.

An avid outdoors man, Mr. Drummond enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Townsend Rod & Gun Club as well as the Fitchburg Rod & Gun Club. He was a New England Sports Fan and enjoyed cooking. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

During the Vietnam War era, Mr. Drummond served his country in the United States Army, attaining the rank of Specialist 4th grade.

A funeral service was held on Tuesday, March 30, at the T.J. Anderson & Son Funeral Home in Townsend.
