GROTON — Five teams from Florence Roche Elementary School participated in the Destination Imagination Regional Tournament on Saturday, March 20 at the Ayer Regional Schools. Groton-Dunstable students were the largest group at the tournament. Of over 120 district students participating, 29 were from Florence Roche.
Destination Imagination is a creative, problem-solving program that fosters creative and critical thinking, develops teamwork, collaboration and leadership skills, and rewards the process and innovation that teams have demonstrated in their solutions.
Students from all district schools have been hard at work since November on their challenge solutions.
The Pickles of Pickleodeon, third graders, Brendan Boyce, Willow Chau, Jessica Liliedahl, Matthew Liliedahl, Ryan McFarland, and Meagan Sweenie were awarded first place Regional Champions in their Do or DI Challenge. They advance to the State Tournament at Worcester Polytechnic Institute to be held on Saturday, April 3.
Congrats also to the Zorp JJ team for their second place finish in the DIrect Deposit Challenge, and great job to teams Destroyers, Tech Nerds, and Triple R Tinker Toys for their hard work.
Thank you to Kim Duhamel, district coordinator for her countless hours making the Destination Imagination program a success in the school district, as well as all the team managers and appraisers for sharing your time and energy that makes this volunteer based program possible.
Good luck to the Pickles of Pickleodeon on April 3.
