TOWNSEND — Florence Mae (Koch) Mountain, 91, formerly of Main Street and Riverbank Terrace, died Wednesday, March 24, at the Golden Living Center, Fitchburg.

She was predeceased by her husband, Carleton J. Mountain, in 1968.

Mrs. Mountain was born in Townsend, May 11, 1918, a daughter of Charles F. and Florence E. (Jeffries) Koch and resided most of her life in Townsend.

She is survived by her son, Carleton J. Mountain and his friend, Elisabeth Montuori of Ashby, her daughter and son in law, Marcia and Mark Welterlen of Stillwell, Kan.; her sister, Helen Lorden of Pepperell. She also leaves three grandchildren, Aaron Mountain of Fredericksburg, Va., Allix Mountain of Somerville and Nathan Welterlen of Stilwell, Kan. She also leaves many nieces and nephews.

She was the sister of the late Charles Koch, Edith Bradley, Mildred Bradley and John Koch all of Townsend, Alice Hartung and Blanche Dinsmore both of Leominster, Beatrice Hill of Pepperell and Victor Koch of Florida.

For over 25 years Mrs. Mountain worked in the shipping department at New England Business Service in Townsend.

A funeral service was held Monday, March 29 at the T.J. Anderson & Son Funeral Home.
