HARVARD — The Economic Development Analysis Team was chartered by the Harvard Selectmen last September to investigate the opportunities for increased commercial development on Ayer Road north of Route 2.

We have surveyed town residents and interviewed commercial landowners to find the best fit between needs, concerns and opportunities. We have reported our progress in the papers, at selectmen meetings, and on the town’s Web site (http://www.harvard.ma.us/Pages/HarvardMA_BComm/BOS/EDAT).

As we prepare our final report for Town Meeting on May 1, we are asking the town residents one last time for their feedback on the specific businesses and sites we are considering, and the implementation issues we are focusing on. Please help us by taking 10-15 minutes to do a new online survey at http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/EDAT_visual_survey. You can also access the survey from the town Web site’s home page. Like the previous ones, this survey is anonymous.

At Town Meeting, residents will be asked to vote on a warrant article to actively pursue a focused commercial development initiative based on the findings and recommendations of EDAT. To help you become better informed for this decision, we are organizing a town-wide forum on Monday, April 12, from 7-9 p.m. at Volunteers Hall in the new library. The EDAT team will make a 45-minute presentation on what it has learned and its recommendations, and then will open it up to an interactive Q&A session. We hope you can come.
