The Lady Patriots entered their final regular season game looking to play the role of spoilers as Gardner needed a victory to qualify for the Central Mass. playoffs. The Wildcats did just that, rolling to a 29-16 halftime advantage. They held off a spirited second-half rally by the Lady Patriots to record a 54-48 victory.

Gardner, which finished the regular season with a 10-10 record, was led by outstanding play from Michelle Griczika, who finished with a game-high 20 points, including a three-pointer. Denise Della-Giusta drained a three-pointer and finished with 14 points. Also playing well for the Wildcats were Frankie Leary and Kate Mulloy, who each added eight points.

Center Ally Watkins led North Middlesex with 12 points and seven rebounds, joined in double figures by teammate Hayley Lynch with 10. Mackenzie Sharp was strong off the boards, hauling down eight rebounds to go along with six points, while senior Laura Pelletier added eight points in her final game.

North Middlesex finished with a 3-19 record.

Both teams had 15 field goals in the game while Gardner owned a 22-16 advantage from the free-throw line.

Greater Lowell 38

The Patriots captured the championship of the Lowell Catholic Winterfest Tournament with a solid 4738 victory over Greater Lowell.

Sophomore guard Brian Magee was the leading scorer for the Patriot with 14 points, including a trio of 3-pointers. Junior center Matt Foley came up big in the paint to key the victory, finishing with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Junior Scott Cavanaugh was instrumental in the second half, scoring all seven of his points after intermission.

With the victory, the Patriots finished the season with a 7-13 record.

Greater Lowell, now 11-9. received a strong all-around effort from Ronzi Hagler.

Tyngsboro 43

In the opening round of the Lowell Catholic Winterfest Tournament, North Middlesex rolled to an easy victory over Tyngsboro paced by guard Mark Schulze, who scored 16 points, including five three-pointers. Sophomore point guard Kevin Marciano added 10 points while junior Drew Dion chipped in with eight points.

Point guard Adam Byron led the Tigers with 11 points and six assists, joined in double figures by guard Chuckie Kennan with 10 points. Senior center Sam McGrath was strong off the boards for Tyngsboro, hauling down 10 rebounds.

The Patriots relied on a balanced offensive attack to prevail over the Wildcats of MidWach B. Matt Foley and Drew Dion paced the victory with 13 points each while sophomores David Lorden and Kevin Marciano chipped in with 10 and 8 points, respectively.
