AYER — On Wednesday, Congresswoman Niki Tsongas will host a small business roundtable with the Nashoba Valley Chamber of Commerce to discuss policies needed to help drive job creation and economic growth. The Nashoba Valley Chamber of Commerce represents businesses in the towns of Ayer, Devens, Groton, Harvard, Littleton, Pepperell, Shirley, Townsend, and Westford. Tsongas will also be visiting small businesses in Ayer prior to the event.

Congresswoman Tsongas intends to bring good ideas and proposals generated at the roundtable back to Washington, DC as additional job creation efforts are developed in Congress. Tsongas will be holding similar discussions with business leaders in other parts of the Fifth Congressional District in the coming weeks to make sure that the voices of local businesses are being heard.

The town of Ayer, which is co-hosting the roundtable with Congresswoman Tsongas, was recently listed among Massachusetts communities as the best positioned for business growth in the “Top 10 of 2010” list compiled by Business Development Strategies Inc. The Roundtable will examine topics such as what is working in the local economy, what are the opportunities & obstacles to promoting hiring in the area, what role do tax incentives play in where businesses locate and whom they hire, and what should be done at the federal level to help employers create jobs.
