Two different services will be held to celebrate Christmas Eve at the Federated Church of Ayer.
At 4 p.m. hot chocolate, coffee or tea will be offered along with Christmas cookies to all who arrive at that hour.
The 5 p.m. service will be an interactive service “A Family Friendly Participant Pageant” under the direction of the Rev. Dr. Priscilla Denham. Dr. Denham invites all shapes, sizes, and descriptions to Fellowship Hall at the church to share in the Christmas Story. Some of those in attendance will be shepherds, while others will be angels or wise ones. Dr. Denham promises an opportunity for fun and joy throughout the service.
“Just bring a willing and joyful spirit and we will have a wonderful service which tells the Christmas Story, no experience is necessary”, said Dr. Denham. “I’m looking forward to a new tradition in our church,” she added.
For our 7 p.m. service we will gather around the fireplace in Fellowship Hall for Christmas Carols and hear scripture in a beautiful but casual setting. Dr. Denham said, “We will have a traditional candle lighting ceremony as we sing Holy Night and prepare ourselves for the birth of Jesus. I hope to see new faces as well as familiar friends. All are welcome.”
