PEPPERELL — Conservation Commission administrator Ellen Fisher was misquoted in a recent news story about department heads reporting to selectmen on the state of their departments.
She was incorrectly quoted as saying other departments take money from the general fund, which decreases the amount available for her department and that she had asked filing fees be placed in the commission’s budget.
Fisher said fees collected under the Wetlands Protection Act, which by state law cannot be placed in the general fund, have been used for all of the commission’s budget expenses except the majority of her salary, as authorized by the commission for years, even before the present budget crisis, which reduces the cost of the department.
