Wreaths on sale in Townsend Meeting Hall
“Townsend Through Time,” the inaugural art exhibit in Townsend’s new Meeting Hall has been taken down, and a new display has been installed. A collection of wreaths and sprays with donated decorations have been hung in the Hall by the Art Task Force of the Meeting Hall Committee. They will be sold in a silent auction with proceeds going to the Meeting Hall General Fund. Those wishing to participate in the auction will find a sign-up sheet beside each wreath or spray. Bids can be made in the Hall when the Senior Center and Library are open.
Individuals and groups that decorated items in the display include: The Bronze Bell, Townsend Public Library Endowment, Townsend Recreation Activities Council, Karin Canfield, Nancy French, Susan Bates, Lisa Lewand, Susan Smith, Kim King, Congregational Church, Cobblestone Quilts, and Spaulding PTO.
Prices start at $15, with a $5 increase required. The auction will end at noon on Dec. 19. Winners may collect their decorations at that time.
Toys and food, please
It’s that time again when we pause and think of those less fortunate than many of us are today. Illness, job losses and other unexpected problems can lead a family down an unhappy path none of us would like to follow.
Townsend Ecumenical Outreach is collecting nonperishable food items to fill Christmas baskets and toys for the children in families who can use a helping hand. Offerings can be left at any Townsend church. Donations are needed by Dec. 13. Christmas baskets will be distributed on Dec. 20. If you are in need of one, please contact a Townsend church. Thank you and Merry Christmas.
