Equine Expo promises even more treats this Halloween

Forced to postpone its Equine Expo & Field Day, the Pepperell Horse Owners Association is all set for Oct. 31, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Pepperell Town Field on Hollis Street.

This complimentary event is an annual celebration of horses, and those who love them, with demonstrations of various equine disciplines and an avenue of unique breeds and colors of the horse.

According to President Steve Ferreira, the organization is hoping for sunnier skies, drier ground, and a safer more enjoyable day. “With this little extra time to prepare,” Ferreira adds, “we’re able to offer even more attractions. … That means even more treats this Halloween for everyone.”

The event features a “Kids Korral” with free activities including; crafts, games, scavenger hunt, face painting, bounce house and coloring contest all courtesy of the organization. Download details and coloring page at

In addition to a breed showcase, pony rides, and Q&A with local veterinarian Dr. Michaela Krafve, demonstrations will span trail riding, driving, dressage, endurance and natural horsemanship.

A raffle is scheduled to benefit the purchase of equine and large animal rescue equipment for the fire department; prizes donated by local merchants include the Auto Clinic, Karen’s Korner, Donelans, Pizza Depot, C&S Pizza, McNabb’s, Pedicure, Photography by Joanna, and more.

This unique Pepperell community is ready to share information about their favorite breed, training methods, and riding style with equine enthusiasts. Many of the local equestrian centers and stables will also be available to share more about their farms.

The Pepperell Horse Owners Association was formed in 2003 in response to the town’s proposal to regulate horse-keeping. Today, the organization has proved sustainability and continues to grow in support of common interest.
