AYER — The People of Ayer Concerned About the Environment (PACE) encourage residents in Ayer, Devens and Shirley to attend a presentation by the U.S. Army regarding the ongoing cleanup of contaminated groundwater created by the Shepley’s Hill Landfill on Sept. 24 at 7 p.m. in the Community Room at the Ayer Police Station

This 84 acre closed landfill (which is owned by the Army) has created conditions that enable arsenic to leach into ground-water which has been flowing off-site, beneath properties in Ayer, toward West Main Street for many years.
