Parish picnic: St. Andrew Episcopal Church in Ayer is having a Parish Picnic at Mirror Lake, Devens. Enjoy a lazy afternoon of swimming, lunch, sand castles or just plain relaxing. The picnic will be held on Sunday, July 12, (rain date July 19 at 11:30 a.m. Bring a picnic lunch and drinks or dessert to share with others. Nashoba Associated Boards of Health, in conjunction with the Ayer Board of Health, announces that a well adult clinic will be held free of charge for the general public at the senior center, 18 Pond St., Ayer. Drop in for blood pressure, pulse screening and diet teaching. No appointment is necessary. Bike ride along Nashua River bike trail

On Saturday, July 18, at 9 a.m., the Ayer Greenway Committee is sponsoring a bike ride on the Nashua River Bike Trail. Meet at the parking area in downtown Ayer at a.m. to enjoy a ride up the Rail trail. All ages welcome. Groups or solo, come out and enjoy the morning with a bike ride. A Greenway committee member will greet you at the parking lot and answer any questions to the best of their ability. Questions can be referred to Andrew, 508-517-2046.

* Thursday, July 9 at 10:30 a.m.: Fire truck visit. Meet one of our local heroes! Today, the Ayer Fire Department will be at the library with their truck and gear. What does a firefighter look like all dressed up?

* Tuesday, July 14 at 10:30 a.m.: Front-end loader. A real live truck digger! It’s big and is used to move dirt! Come climb in! How tall are the wheels? Is the bucket tall enough for you to stand in?

* Wednesday, July 15 at 6:30 p.m.: Davis Bates & Roger Tincknell Concert. A Constellation of Stories and Songs performed by Davis Bates and Roger Tincknell, sponsored by the Ayer Cultural Council, this award winning duo will perform music in a variety of cultural traditions, sharing stories and songs about the sun, moon, stars, and more. Not to be missed!

* Thursday, July 16, at 10:30 a.m.: Fingerprinting with Middlesex sheriff’s office. Meet an officer from the Sheriff’s Department and make a fingerprint set to take home.
