The Harvard Public Library began its Saturday summer schedule effective Saturday, June 6. The library will be open from 10 a.m.- 2 p.m. on Saturdays during the months of June, July and August. Scheduled hours of operation on all other days remain unchanged. Drop-ins are welcome!

Water Chestnut harvests: July 18, Aug. 8

The Harvard Bare Hill Pond Water Management Committee will sponsor two additional water chestnut weed harvests on July 18 and Aug. 8. Water chestnut is a nonnative species of plant that threatens swimming, boating and fishing by crowding the shorelines with a mass of underwater vegetation. The weeds can easily be eradicated by volunteers and water enthusiasts willing to help out for a couple hours of time. Bring your canoe, boat or kayak to the town beach and we’ll give you buckets and instructions on how to help remove the weeds. Don’t have a boat? Some town canoes are typically available on a first-come, first-served basis. State law requires all boaters to have mandatory safety gear, which includes life jackets and a whistle or other auditory warning device.
