Brynnan Farrington buried a 15-footer to start the flurry. After a free throw by Cathy Comerford, Fillebrown hit a perimeter jumper, Comerford scored on a drive, before a free throw by Casey Hardgraves send the Lady Panthers to intermission with a 19-11 lead.
Strong, hustling play by Amy Millet kept Nashoba in the game, but Ayer started to pull away as everyone who stepped on the floor contributed.
Any thoughts of a comeback by Nashoba were quickly dashed in the third quarter as Ayer scored the first 13 points to take a commanding 32-11 lead. The Lady Panthers were extremely aggressive offensively, taking the ball right to the Nashoba defense with knifing drives to the basket.
Amanda Shaughnessy (10 points, nine rebounds) scored on a pair of drives during the spurt while Farrington (12 points, 10 rebounds) and Ashley Christy (six points, eight rebounds, four steals) each added a basket. Cathy Comerford (eight points, two rebounds, three steals) drained a long three-pointer.
The Lady Panthers worked on their team passing in the fourth quarter with positive results, including a number of pin-point passes in the paint that led to easy baskets. Farrington came up big in the second half, scoring 10 points after intermission and providing a problem the Nashoba defense couldn’t solve.
Fillebrown finished with five points in the game while Sarah Megan added four points and three rebounds. Hardgraves and Kelsey McCallan were instrumental in the Lady Panthers’ superiority off the boards, grabbing seven and five rebounds, respectively.
Amy Millet finished with 10 points and ten rebounds for Nashoba while Callie Millet added five points and five rebounds. Kendal Lefrancois (nine rebounds) and Jordan Farren (eight rebounds) were strong off the boards.
